Flat Tire Adventure..

November 3, 2009

The tire that didn’t make it.

John pushes his finger through a shredded tire.

The hard work begins.

One of many passing vehicles.

Back in October, my buddy Jon & I made a weekend trip to Lethbridge to go visit some friends.  We left Edmonton about 6pm.

For those of you who don’t know,  it takes about 5-6 hours to travel from Edmonton to Lethbridge.

We made a pit stop briefly in Airdrie to grab some food & a package for Jon’s brother before we decided to make the homestretch on HWY 2 South to Lethbridge.

About 3.67 minutes after entering the highway we noticed a pretty hard clunk & a sudden loss in pressure.Jon signaled, but had a hell of a time exiting the highway as no one seemed to want to let the guy with a flat tire exit to the shoulder. Pretty typical Albertan attitude if you ask me.

Anyways,  the two of burst into laughter & I began to shoot photo’s like a mad man trying to capture the perfect Kodak moment.  Once we removed the steamy old shredded tire, we placed Jon’s spare upon the open wheel well & began to drive again on the highway, optimistically hoping that we were now on our way.

About two minutes later the donut pretty much exploded & we ended up in the shoulder once again.  We finally arrived in Lethbridge at 2:30 am.

Moral of the story: Check your donut at least once every three months or expect to be SOL.
